Among the nine key strategic objectives identified by the University of Nairobi 1in its vision towards world-class excellence, is the support and development of the ICT function within the University. In this connection, one of the objectives of the Strategic Plan for 2008-2013 is to: maximize student and staff productivity and service delivery, enhance teaching and learning and improve quality of research through ICT. Clearly, this is a challenge that must be taken on board with vigour and gusto; with a clear vision and plan and with a commitment from all concerned including students, staff and management. Against this background, the ICTC, acting on behalf of the University has taken its mandate of developing a blueprint that will guide in the development, implementation, and effective use of the ICT services at the University.
Where there is no separate ICT standards document for the University, this policy will serve, alongside other related published documents, as the reference document on ICT standards.
