The University of Nairobi held its 53rd graduation ceremony on 4th September, 2015 at the institution’s graduation square.

More that 5000 graduands were conferred with various degrees and diplomas during the event that was graced by UoN Chancellor Vijoo Rattansi, UoN Council Chairman Idle Farah, Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mbithi, Deputy Vice Chancellors and leadership, and faculty members who were all dressed for the occasion.

The event was also attended by more than 15,000 family members and friends of the graduates, as they marked the historical moment in their lives, as far as their education is concerned.

During the event, Justice Prof. J.B. Ojwang, Justice of the Supreme Court in Kenya was awarded a Doctor of Laws degree (LLD).

Today’s ceremony was the first to be presided over by VC Prof. Mbithi, who took over from Prof. George Magoha in January, 2015.

The University Endowment was also launched officially by the Chancellor Dr. Rattansi during the ceremony.

The Chancellor has continued to offer sponsorship to needy students for their university education and now seeks to raise 1 billion Kenya Shillings to support this noble course.

University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences Principal, Prof. Isaac Kibwage arrives at the Graduation Square for the 53rd graduation ceremony held on 4th September, 2015.

The graduation featured graduands from the Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Architecture and Engineering, Biological and Physical Sciences and Education and External Studies.
