The 3-day event opening ceremony was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi.
The theme of this year’s event is: “Quality and Innovative Education to Sustain Industrial Growth.
While presiding over the opening ceremony of the event, the VC said that open days give faculty staff the opportunity to interact with prospective students and the public at large, sharing the University’s academic programmes, research outputs and services.
“Through the open day, the University is making a statement about the quality of services we render to the public and this is evident in our readiness to display ourselves for public scrutiny of our products and services,” Prof. Mbithi said.
This year’s Open Day brings together UoN staff and students in addition to key players in the education sector which include the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) formerly known as JAB, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Other partners include Standard Media Group and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).
During the event, potential students and members of public will get a chance to learn more about the accredited, innovative and market driven programmes at Kenya’s premier institution of higher learning.
They will also tour the world class facilities and see the cutting edge innovations and creative works undertaken by scholars at this great institution.
Furthermore, they will get the opportunity to interact with world renowned scholars and even select and apply for the programmes they wish to study at the institution on the spot.
The event will end on 30 April, 2016.
