The University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences Principal Prof. Isaac Kibwage led the College management and staff in an orientation for newly admitted students on 7th September, 2016 in Chiromo Campus.

In his address, Prof Kibwage congratulated the students for joining UoN, which is Kenya’s premier institution of higher learning and welcomed them to College of Health Sciences.

He encouraged them to work hard in their studies for them to successfully achieve their career goals.

Prof. Kibwage asked the students to conduct themselves with highest levels of integrity and avoid being corrupt as they set foot on their career journey.

He was quick to caution them against missing lectures and exam cheating saying engaging in such activities could lead to expulsion from the University thus killing their career dreams.

The Principal advised the students to be consistent, join study groups and manage their time effectively for them to be successful in their studies.

He called on the students to report any problem they might encounter during their stay at the College on time to have it resolved.

In addition, the Principal asked the students to make good use of University resources and take good care of the facilities they will be using during their studies.

Prof. Kibwage asked the students to always be aware of their environment for their own professional and personal growth.

He ended his address by wishing all new students the best as they begin their professional journey.

Other speakers at the event were School of Medicine Dean, Prof. Fredrick Were, School of Dental Sciences Dean, Prof. Loice Gathece, School of Pharmacy acting Dean, Dr. K. Abuga, School of Nursing Director, Prof. Grace Omoni, School of Public Health Director Dr. Dismas Ongore, College Registrar, Mr. Joseph Waigwi, College Librarian, Mr. John Mwangi, College Senior Security officer, Mr. D. Aminga, College Games Tutor, Mr. S. Oketch, College Bursar, Mr. J. Mwololo, Dr. Muthoni Mathai, Chair, Prevention of Drug and Substance Abuse Committee.

Students follow proceedings during the orientation.

The master of ceremony of the event was Prof. E. Nguu, Associate Dean, School of Medicine.

The students were also addressed by student leaders at the college.
