The College of Health Sciences (CHS) held a one-day Performance Contract (PC) and Webometrics sensitization workshop on 27th July, 2018.

The workshop was aimed at discussing the importance of the PC and the participants’ roles in supporting their respective units in achieving the agreed PC targets in addition to having a discussion on sustainability and enhancement of CHS Webometrics parameters.

While addressing the participants, the College’s acting Principal, Prof. James Machoki encouraged staff members to work together as a team for them to achieve both institutional as well as individual growth.

Prof. Machoki promised to support website champions and provide them with resources that will help them in carrying out their daily website duties.

Mr. Leonard Musyoka gave a presentation that was centered on performance contracting at the University of Nairobi (UoN). He noted that PC was designed to improve performance, service delivery, and governance in the public sector.

“The main objective of the PC is to improve service delivery and ensure that there is improved performance from one period to another. It is an implementation tool of the strategic plan,” Mr. Musyoka said.

On Webometrics, Mr. Musyoka stressed on the need to work hard and have UoN ranked top of other universities.

“We are happy when we are ranked top in Webometrics. We should ensure that we are visible enough because that means we will get more grants, more partners and everyone will basically want to be associated with us,” Mr. Musyoka said.

Mr. Musyoka was accompanied by Roselyne Shihemi who gave a presentation on UoN resolution of public complaints.

The team from ICT Center was led by Deputy Director (MIS) Mr. Paul Kariuki. Mr. Kariuki gave an overview of Webometric Ranking, while Ruth Wambua, who is the Project Leader talked about the website strategies and how they can be implemented.

CHS Website Administrator Mary Segeyian’s presentation revolved around the College’s performance since January 2018.
