What is NUDSA?

The Nairobi University Dental Student Association (NUDSA) is the largest individual dental student organization in Kenya. It is an independent, non-government and non-political association. Since 1978, NUDSA has served its members at the premier Kenyan University on a not-for-profit basis, providing leadership and nurturing the profession. Its membership is drawn from students pursuing the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) degrees, and thus serves as their official mouth piece and platform for action. For almost 30 years, NUDSA has brought together the local, regional and global dental student community working on pertinent oral health issues. Hundreds of activities are organized, planned, and carried out every year on the local, national and international levels.

The association is involved in organizing a number of activities which are but not limited to:

  1. Finalists’ dinner at the end of every academic year
  2. First years’ dinner a month after the new members of the school have joined
  3. Dental camps in which the students actively participate. Apart from giving service to the community through this programme, students also sharpen their clinical skills
  4. A carrier day during which specialists in the dental field enlighten the students on the different fields of speciallisation
  5. A sports/ fun day for students to relax away from the school environment
  6. Representing students in conferences of interest to the school
  7.  Representing the school at college and university level on different occasions
  8. Generally improving the students’ quality of life at school

Message from the chairman

NUDSA has the interest of Dental students as the first priority. The association works through innovation to ensure that that all planned activities are materialized to the uttermost. The biggest challenge currently is insufficiency of funds but NUDSA will be a self-sustained association in the near future. This will be implemented through the planned income generating activities. I however thank the selfless sponsors who always come to our aid whenever we need them and also the students who give us support and encouragement oftenly.
