CHS teaching staff being trained on Turnitin, at the E-Learning Center.

Close to 71 teaching staff at University of Nairobi’s College of Health Sciences were successfully trained on a web based anti-plagiarism software called Turnitin.

The software eliminates the time-consuming process of verifying student authorship by presenting easy-to-use reports that show how much of a document is original, cited from other sources, or unoriginal.

With Turnitin, educators can promote academic integrity in their classroom as students learn the importance of original writing and attribution and foster critical thinking skills that are important to their success.

The staff were also trained on the Open Researchers and Contributors Identity (ORCID) Platform.

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes one from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission.

It also supports automated linkages between researcher and his/her professional activities ensuring that their work is recognized.

The three-day training was held from 8th to 10th February 2016 at CHS Library E-Learning Center and organized by the University of Nairobi Library in collaboration with the Information and Communication Centre Department.
