The University Dental Plaza is a new state of the art multidisciplinary dental treatment centre located on Ralph Bunche Road on the grounds of what was formerly Kenya School of law.

Our team of Specialists and Consultants are able to provide high-end sophisticated treatments under both local and general anaesthesia. Our hospital boasts of probably the highest concentration of dental specialists in the Eastern and Central African Region. The hospital consists of specially designed clinics, X-ray facilities, dental laboratories, theatre and a dedicated Dental ward  for those who may require complex surgery.

The Central Province Response Integration, Strengthening and Sustainability Project is led by University of Nairobi, and working in collaboration with Futures Group and the University of Maryland Institute Of Human Virology. Futures Group leads the development and implementation of key project components in strategic information, monitoring and evaluation, and health management information systems. The project works collaboratively with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Ministry of Health and local regional and district- level health management teams for the Kiambu and Kirinyaga districts of central Kenya. Futures Group strengthens strategic information and medical records departments at 56 facilities with a focus on data quality and data use to improve services. Futures will deploy IQSolutions including electronic health records systems, IQCare, at up to 8 health facilities in the first year of the project. Futures Group will also work to strengthen the capacity of regional and district clinicians, data entrants, and coordinators to use data in decision making across multiple program areas including prevention of mother-to-child transmission, TB/HIV, and care and treatment. Breast Cancer Care (BRECC) Registry, is a research project driven by Prof. N.A.OthienoAbinya as the Principal Investigator – (BRECC) a project on Development of a breast cancer registry to determine the magnitude of breast cancer and current clinical care patterns in Kenya.Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women with a high mortality rate to incidence rate in developing countries compared to developed countries.

The on-going BRECC registry is a tool to observing wholesomely the presentation of breast cancer patients; local factors that influence prognosis and quality of life; to describe the clinical care patterns, and to monitor the safety of the therapies provided to patients in a normal clinic setting.

Patients are recruited into the registry after a positive histological diagnosis of breast cancer subject to inclusion & exclusion criteria and provision of consent.

Other BRECC collaborators are Kenya Oncological Research Database (KORDA) and Kenya Society of Hematology and Oncology(KESHO)


The project is sponsored by Roche pharmaceuticals.

School of Pharmacy (UoN) and Universal Corporation are working together on a project funded by Federation of East African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and GIZ. The project involves development of a generic Rufinamide (an orphan anti-epileptic drug) product for use in East Africa for the management of children with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome.

phase 1 of this project involves formulation development of generic rufinamide tablets and development and validation of methods of analysis and sclae up to industry level production.
